Jeju is a volcanic island off South Korea with 665,953 people in August 2025. A cruise port guide says ships call at the Seogwipo Gangjeong Cruise Port on the south coast, opened in 2017, and that some use Jeju Port, so plan your day around the port your ship uses.

Top 3 things to do
1. Hallasan
The summit is 1,947.06 m (6,388 feet), with a crater lake, Baengnokdam, about 100 m deep. Only two trails reach the summit: Gwaneumsa at 8.7 km and Seongpanak at 9.6 km.
Tip: Our sources give no hiking times, so a summit hike is not a casual port day activity.

2. Seongsan Ilchulbong
A volcanic peak 182 m (597 feet) tall that formed about 6,700 years ago, named a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site on 2 July 2007. Wikipedia lists opening from an hour before sunrise until 8 p.m. from November to February and 9 p.m. from March to October.
Tip: Hours change, so check them on the day.

3. Jeongbang Waterfall
A waterfall 23 m (75 feet) high and up to 8 m wide, depending on rain, and one of the ten greatest scenic wonders of Jeju. A smaller fall, Sojeongbang, is about 300 m to the east.
Tip: It is in Seogwipo, the city on the south coast. Our sources give no distance from the cruise port.

What to skip
Counting on a train or subway
The cruise port guide says Jeju has no subways or trains, only city buses and taxis, and suggests a taxi app such as K-ride or Kakao T.

Before you go ashore
You do not have to book a tour: you are free to go ashore on your own. Royal Caribbean sets the all aboard time about 30 minutes before the ship sails, posts it near the gangway, and says the ship does not wait for guests touring on their own.
