Top 3 things to do
1. Salamanca Place
Many Georgian-era buildings stand on the street, and Kelly's Steps there, built in 1839, are a shortcut up to Battery Point. Wikipedia names the Salamanca Market as a well-known attraction.
Tip: Our sources give no market days or hours, so check them for your day.

2. Mount Wellington (kunanyi)
The mountain is 1,271 m (4,170 ft) high and about 22 km (14 miles) from the center of Hobart by a sealed, narrow road to the summit. The road opened on 23 January 1937, and sections can close when it snows.
Tip: The summit is sometimes covered in snow even in summer, so check that the road is open before you go.

3. Cascade Brewery
Built in 1824 and called Australia's longest-operating brewery. Convict labour was used to build it.
Tip: Our sources give no tour times or distance from the berth. Ask on board.

MONA on a short call
Wikipedia calls the Museum of Old and New Art the largest private museum in the Southern Hemisphere, but our sources do not say where it is or how long the ride takes, so ask on board before you plan it.

Before you go ashore
You do not have to book a tour: you are free to go ashore on your own. Royal Caribbean sets the all aboard time about 30 minutes before the ship sails, posts it near the gangway, and says the ship does not wait for guests touring on their own.
