Top 3 things to do
1. Follow the Blue Line to the old town
A blue line on the ground guides cruise visitors from the ships to the Historic Center (Centro Histórico). In the old town are the Plazuela Machado square, the restored Angela Peralta Theater and the Cathedral.
Tip: In 2025 the city carried the line on to the Pino Suárez market, so you can follow it there too.

2. Hike up to El Faro
The lighthouse at the top of Cerro del Crestón, at the southern end of the city, is the highest natural lighthouse in the Americas.
Tip: You go up on foot. Leave time for the walk up and back down before all aboard.

3. Walk the Malecón
The seafront promenade runs about 8.5 km (5.3 miles) along the Pacific. Along the coast, Mazatlan's famous divers jump off high rocks into the ocean for tips from the people watching.
Tip: It is long: pick one stretch to walk, not the whole length.

Before you go ashore
You do not have to book a tour: you are free to go ashore on your own. Royal Caribbean sets the all aboard time about 30 minutes before the ship sails, posts it near the gangway, and says the ship does not wait for guests touring on their own.
