The Cheapest Time to Cruise Alaska in 2027

Alaska has a short season, and the price follows it. The edges of the season, May and September, cost the least a night, and the middle of summer costs the most.

The cheapest times to cruise Alaska in 2027 are September (a middle $104 a night) and May ($117). The dearest is July at $149. Across all 82 Alaska cruises we priced, a middle night costs $129, which is about $900 for the cruise, per person. That is 1.4 times between the cheapest month and the dearest.

Every number comes from our own price data, as captured on 19 October 2026. For each sailing we took the lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, and divided it by the number of nights. We then took the middle (the median) for each month, start and ship. The box at the bottom says exactly how. This is what Royal Caribbean is asking today for sailings that have not left yet.

Month by month

The Alaska season in our data runs from May to September 2027. The last column of the table is a fairer test than the plain middle: it compares each sailing with the usual night of its own ship, from its own start, for its own length, so a month does not look cheap just because a cheap ship sails in it. A figure under 1.00 means cheaper than that ship's usual, and above 1.00 means dearer.

Lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, divided by the number of nights, for Alaska cruises leaving in 2027, as priced on 19 October 2026. Each bar runs from the 10th to the 90th percentile of that month's sailings. The note beside it gives the middle and the number of sailings.

Lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, for Alaska cruises leaving May to September 2027, priced on 19 October 2026. The last column uses only sailings whose ship, start, end and length have at least 8 priced sailings, and is the middle of each sailing's night divided by its group's middle night. Every month shown has at least 10 sailings.

The same-ship column says the pattern is real and not a trick of which ships sail when. June and July run above each ship's usual (1.10 and 1.08), while May (0.90) and September (0.88) run below it. August sits at 1.00.

Where you start matters less than which ship

Alaska sailings start in 4 ways: Seattle and Vancouver round trips, and one-way sailings between Vancouver and Seward. The one-way sailings are real, and a trip that begins with one ends at a different port. The table shows the middle for each.

The ship is a bigger driver. Serenade of the Seas costs a middle $114 a night and Quantum of the Seas costs $164, 1.4 times as much. Each ship sails mostly from one start, so start and ship are tangled together here. Our night-by-night look at every ship has the full list.

Alaska next to the other places people sail

At a middle $129 a night, Alaska sits close to the Caribbean ($127) and below Europe ($150) and the Bahamas ($166). Mexico is the cheapest of the large groups at $107. Alaska is a summer product and the others run all year, so this compares Alaska's summer with a whole year elsewhere. Our cheapest week from each home port compares weeks, and our cheapest month for back-to-back looks at the whole calendar.

What to do with this

If the price is what you are after, aim for the start or the end of the season, and consider the older ship. May and September trade a little weather and day length for a lower fare, and the weather is yours to judge. If you want a balcony for the glaciers, how much more a balcony costs shows what it adds. Two Alaska weeks can also be booked one after the other, and repositioning and the back-to-back guide explain how that works for one-way sailings.

What this does not tell you

  • It is the lowest interior cabin. A balcony or suite can follow a different order.
  • It is fare only. Flights to Seattle or Vancouver, hotels, excursions and the cost of a glacier day are not in it.
  • Samples are small. The whole data set has 82 Alaska cruises, and a month has 13 to 18. One sailing moves a month's middle by a few dollars.
  • The season is short and mixed with the ships: each ship mostly sails from one start, so ship and start cannot be fully separated.
  • We left out 179 cruise-and-land-tour packages in Alaska (more than the 82 cruises themselves), because a tour fare covers days on land.
  • This is one day of fares, 19 October 2026. Fares move daily, and nothing here is a quote.

Sailings with no fare

0 Alaska cruises had no fare when we looked, so none is excluded for that reason in this post. Across all regions 29 cruises in the window had no fare. They are shown as unpriced, left out of the figures and never estimated.

How we measured this

Data date: 19 October 2026. Source: the legtolegcruises.com price history, the nightly capture of Royal Caribbean fares. We took the lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, for every sailing leaving 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027 (2,099 sailings in the window; 1,920 cruises after removing 179 cruise-and-land-tour packages; 1,891 with a fare). Alaska is the region Royal Caribbean lists on the itinerary: 261 entries, of which 179 are tours and 82 are cruises, all priced. A night is that fare divided by the number of nights. Each figure is a middle (median) unless it says otherwise, and typical range means the 10th to the 90th percentile. The same-ship column divides a sailing's night by the middle night of its ship, start port, end port and length, using groups of at least 8 sailings. Fares move daily.
