The Cheapest Europe Cruises of 2027, and Why

A Europe cruise costs about twice as much a night from Barcelona or Rome as from Athens or Venice. The reason is the ship, not the city.

The cheapest Europe cruises of 2027 start in Venice (Ravenna) and Athens (a middle $119 a night) and leave in September and October ($127 and $132). The dearest start in Barcelona ($245) and Rome ($222), and the dearest month is July ($173). Across all 195 Europe cruises we priced, a middle night is $150, about $1,050 for the cruise.

Every number comes from our own price data, as captured on 19 October 2026. For each sailing we took the lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, and divided it by the number of nights, then took the middle (the median) for each port, ship and month. The box at the bottom says exactly how. Our data holds Europe sailings from May to October 2027 only.

Home port, cheapest first

These are the 5 Europe home ports with at least 20 priced sailings. Left out for too few (sailings in brackets): Lisbon (3), Istanbul (1).

A night on a Europe cruise in 2027, by home port

Lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, divided by the number of nights, for Europe cruises leaving in 2027, as priced on 19 October 2026. Each bar runs from the 10th to the 90th percentile of that port's sailings. The note beside it gives the middle and the number of sailings.

Venice (Ravenna)$109 to $135middle $119, 34 sailings
Athens$99 to $151middle $119, 29 sailings
Southampton$118 to $207middle $161, 24 sailings
Rome$128 to $318middle $222, 59 sailings
Barcelona$112 to $311middle $245, 45 sailings

Lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, for Europe cruises leaving 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027, priced on 19 October 2026. Ports with at least 20 priced sailings. Mixed lengths: most are seven nights.

The ship explains most of the gap

Legend of the Seas is a new ship, and it sails Europe from Barcelona and Rome at a middle $284 a night. The older ships on the same coast cost far less. Out of Barcelona, Mariner of the Seas costs a middle $131 a night against $278 for Legend, from the same port, over the same months. So Barcelona and Rome are not dear because of the cities. They are dear because that is where the newest ship is. Athens and Venice get the older ships, and look cheap for the same reason.

Which month

The summer is dearer. July costs a middle $173 a night and September $127. The last column compares each sailing with the usual night of its own ship, from its own port, for its own length, so a month does not look cheap just because a cheap ship sails in it. Under 1.00 means cheaper than that ship's usual.

Lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, priced on 19 October 2026. Fares move daily and these can sell out.

Europe at a middle $150 a night costs more than the Caribbean ($127) and less than Asia ($156). Our Alaska post sets the other big summer region beside it, and the balcony post shows what a balcony adds to these fares. Two Europe sailings can be booked one after the other from some ports, such as Barcelona, Rome and Southampton; see repositioning for the one-way kind. If you hold a Club Royale offer, what an offer is worth shows where it saves the most.

What this does not tell you

  • It is the lowest interior cabin. Other cabins can follow a different order.
  • It is fare only. Flights, hotels before and after, excursions and meals ashore are not in it, and the flight to Europe is often the larger bill.
  • The ship sets the price more than the port, and each ship sails from only one or two ports, so port and ship cannot be fully separated.
  • Samples are modest: ports in the ranking have 24 to 59 sailings, and a month has 30 to 36.
  • Our data holds no Europe sailings before May 2027, so winter is not covered.
  • This is one day of fares, 19 October 2026. Fares move daily, and nothing here is a quote.

Sailings with no fare

1 Europe cruise had no fare when we looked. It is shown as unpriced, left out of every figure and never estimated. Across all regions 29 cruises in the window had no fare.

How we measured this

Data date: 19 October 2026. Source: the legtolegcruises.com price history, the nightly capture of Royal Caribbean fares. We took the lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, for every sailing leaving 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027 (2,099 sailings in the window; 1,920 cruises after removing 179 cruise-and-land-tour packages; 1,891 with a fare). Europe is the region Royal Caribbean lists on the itinerary: 196 cruises, 195 with a fare, 166 of them seven nights. A night is that fare divided by the number of nights. Each figure is a middle (median) unless it says otherwise, and typical range means the 10th to the 90th percentile. The same-ship column divides a sailing's night by the middle night of its ship, start port, end port and length, using groups of at least 8 sailings. Fares move daily.
