How Do You Get a Club Royale Offer? And Why You Might Not

Two ways an offer reaches you, why one might not, and what a “free” cruise still costs.

You get a Club Royale offer by playing in the casino on board. Then you either earn an instant reward during your sailing or wait for Royal Caribbean to pick you for a targeted offer. How much play does it take? For an instant reward, Royal Caribbean says the casino host desk has a monthly flyer listing the points you need on your current sailing. For a targeted offer, it names no amount. Here is what it does say, the numbers you can work out yourself, and why an offer might not show up.

You join by playing

If you are a Crown & Anchor member, Royal Caribbean’s FAQ says you join Club Royale automatically once you play with your SeaPass card. Insert or tap it at a slot machine, or show it at a gaming table. You must be 18 to join (21 in Alaska), but 21 on the sailing date to use a casino offer. Your play is tracked as tier credits and points, and our guide to the tier thresholds and benefits has the numbers.

The two ways a cruise offer reaches you

  1. Instant rewards on board. Royal Caribbean’s benefits grid lists an instant cruise reward based on your gaming activity during the current sailing. Its SeaPass guide says the host desk has the current month’s “Rack Up the Rewards” flyer, listing the points you need on your current sailing. The rewards vary by voyage and change monthly. A certificate is valid for 30 days from your cruise end date. One guide says the certificate appears in your cabin on the final day.
  2. Targeted offers. Royal Caribbean sends these by regular mail, by email and on the Club Royale member website, its SeaPass guide says. Its FAQ says you can view them at clubroyaleoffers.com. Our guide to where your offers live shows the places to look.

What play looks like at the published rates

The tier ladder does give you a yardstick. Royal Caribbean’s FAQ says Prime, the second tier, starts at 2,500 tier credits. It also says you earn 1 point per $5 you play on a reel slot machine. The tiers FAQ counts the tiers in these same points, so 2,500 credits means $12,500 in total bets. That is a benchmark, not the price of an offer. Prime’s own annual cruise is also a separate benefit from these offers. Video poker earns more slowly: the FAQ says 1 point per $15 played. Royal Caribbean’s own SeaPass guide (Jan 30, 2026) still says $10 per point. So an older source understates how much video poker play it takes.

Bets are not losses. Those figures count the amount bet in total, including winnings you bet again. One published analysis put the expected cost of reaching Prime on slots near $1,000 in total per person, using an 8 percent house edge. That is an estimate. A casino offer is marketing, and it exists because the casino hopes you will play. So only play what you would spend on entertainment anyway, and never gamble to chase a cruise.

Why you might not get one

  • Royal Caribbean picks. Its SeaPass guide says targeted offers go to members chosen on demographics, how often they have cruised and their past casino play. The more you play on a cruise, the better your next offers are apt to be. It gives no amount of play that triggers one.
  • Offers can stop. Under its offer terms, Royal Caribbean can withhold offers after inactivity or a drop in your play. It may remove you from future offers if you redeem one and do not play. It may suspend you from future offers if you do not check in at the pier. Its program terms say benefits are at its discretion and can change at any time.
  • It may be in the mail. Check the website, your email and your regular mail before deciding you have none.

What a “free” cruise still costs

A comped cruise covers the fare the offer names, not the whole trip. Royal Caribbean’s terms say a stateroom offer gives complimentary cruise fare to you and one guest in one stateroom. You pay the taxes and fees. A discounted stateroom offer charges the second guest a casino discount rate. Not included: gratuities, fuel surcharges, upgrades, air and ground transfers, onboard expenses and an online booking processing fee, if applicable. The terms give no amount for that online booking fee.

Missing a sailing also has a cost. It applies if you failed to check in at the pier for a sailing. It also applies if you cancelled a stateroom offer booking two days or less before it sailed. For the next 12 months, stateroom offers you book carry a $200 per stateroom deposit. You get it back as a refundable $200 onboard credit on your account when you sail. Any unused balance goes back to your card at the end of the cruise. Separately, one Cruise Mummy report dated Aug 21, 2026 says a $100 per stateroom non-refundable booking fee applied to some balcony and oceanview offers. It names selected sailings from May 4 to Dec 31, 2026, booked by May 31, 2026. Sailing with a second guest? Read the guest terms first. How to read a Club Royale offer covers them, and second-guest fees goes deeper.
