Do Cruises That Stop at CocoCay Cost More? A Night With and Without the Stop

People ask whether a stop at the private island adds to the fare. In our fares it does not. The ship, the length and the week set the price, and the stops add very little.

A stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay does not make a Royal Caribbean cruise dearer. On the same ship, from the same home port, for the same number of nights, the cruises that call there cost a middle 4% less a night than the ones that do not. We compared 112 cruises with the stop and 115 without, in 10 groups. The other busy stops, Nassau, Cozumel and Costa Maya, are within 6% of level as well.

Every number comes from our own price data, as captured on 20 October 2026. For 1,862 cruises of 3 to 14 nights we took the lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, and divided it by the number of nights. The box at the bottom says exactly how. This is what Royal Caribbean is asking today, not what anyone paid.

A night, with the stop and without it

A cruise with the stop and a cruise without it are not alike unless they share the ship, the port and the length. So we only compared those. For each stop, the table gives the middle night with it, the middle night without it, and how the two compare. A figure under 1.00 means the cruises with the stop were cheaper.

Lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, for cruises of 3 to 14 nights leaving 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027, priced on 20 October 2026. Groups are the same ship, the same home port and the same number of nights, with at least 3 cruises with the stop and 3 without. The dollar columns are the middle of the group middles.

Why it comes out so even

A private island is a place on the map, not a cabin. The fare is set by the ship, the week, the length of the cruise and how well it is selling. The stop is one day of it. Most itineraries from the same ship and port visit the same few islands in a different order, so the stop is the least that differs between two of them.

Inside the groups, the figure is not tidy. For CocoCay the 10 groups run from 0.69 to 1.33, with 5 below 0.98 and 3 above 1.02. That spread is the weeks and the cabins left, not the island. The middle is the figure to use, and it is close to one.

The stops that move the price a little

Among the stops with at least 5 groups, Costa Maya has the lowest figure at 0.94 and Roatan the highest at 1.09, from 9 and 5 groups. These are small groups, and one dear holiday week in one group can move the middle.

With the stop against without it, by port of call

The middle night of cruises with the stop divided by the middle night of cruises without it, on the same ship, from the same home port, for the same number of nights, priced on 20 October 2026. Each bar runs from the lowest to the highest group; 1.00 is no difference. The note beside it gives the middle and the number of groups.

What to do with this

Pick the cruise by ship, week and length, and the stops by what you want to see. If you want the private island, you will not pay a premium for it in the fare. If you do not, skipping it will not save you money. Each leg of a back-to-back has its own stops. The back-to-back guide shows how the legs join up, and the longest back-to-back you can book shows what a long run visits.

What this does not tell you

  • It is the lowest interior cabin. A balcony or suite can follow a different order.
  • It is fare only. Flights, hotels and the night before the cruise are not in it. Port charges for the stop are part of the taxes and fees in the fare.
  • It says nothing about the value of the island itself, what you pay for a day there, or the excursions. Those are not in the fare.
  • Most groups are small. The 10 CocoCay groups hold 112 cruises with the stop. A group of 3 and a group of 30 count the same in the middle.
  • Cruises that visit a stop are not chosen at random. Royal Caribbean may route a cruise to a stop in certain weeks, which our groups only partly separate out.
  • This is one day of fares, 20 October 2026. Fares move daily, and nothing here is a quote.

Sailings with no fare

38 cruises in the window had no fare when we looked. They are shown as unpriced on the site, left out of every figure here and never estimated. We also left out 179 cruise-and-land-tour packages, because a tour fare covers days on land.

How we measured this

Data date: 20 October 2026. Source: the legtolegcruises.com price history, the nightly capture of Royal Caribbean fares, and the ports of call Royal Caribbean lists for each sailing. We took the lowest interior fare per person, taxes and port fees included, for every Royal Caribbean cruise of 3 to 14 nights leaving 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027 (1,862 priced cruises), and divided it by the number of nights. For each port of call we looked only at groups of cruises on the same ship, from the same home port, for the same number of nights, that had at least 3 cruises with the stop and at least 3 without it. In each group we divided the middle night of the cruises with the stop by the middle night of the cruises without it, and took the middle of those results across the groups. A figure of 1.00 means no difference. A stop is a port of call, not a port the cruise starts or ends at. The middle is the median. Includes one-way sailings, counted at the port they leave from. Fares move daily.
