What this video covers
This is the complete guide to back-to-back cruises, in eight questions. A back-to-back is two cruises on the same ship, booked one after the other: the first comes back to port and the second leaves the same day, and you stay on board, usually in the same cabin. Royal Caribbean does not sell them as one trip, so you book two cruises that line up. The guide counted 2,923 on sale from 25 home ports. The date moves the price the most: on a typical trip the most expensive date costs about 40 percent more than the cheapest, and Christmas cost more every time. Short three night cruises cost the most per night, and taxes and port fees are about a fifth of the price.
Port Canaveral has the most back-to-backs, Fort Lauderdale the most ships, and San Diego is the cheapest at about 88 dollars a night. The longest runs leave Port Canaveral, on Star of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas. Taxes, port fees and drink packages are paid on each leg, and onboard credit belongs to its own cruise, but gratuities, loyalty points and parking are charged by the day, and you only fly once. The guide explains turnaround day and how to put a different casino offer on each leg, in the right order. The cheapest month is January, about 113 dollars a night, and July is the most expensive, about 183.
