I Found Royal Caribbean's Cheapest Cruise

What this video covers

What is the cheapest cruise Royal Caribbean is selling? This video sorts more than 3,000 sailings by the price of one night. The winner is a seven night trip on Voyager of the Seas from Los Angeles to Mexico for 249 dollars: 80 dollars of cruise fare and 169 dollars of taxes and port fees, about 36 dollars a night. The lowest total price is a four night trip on Ovation of the Seas for 199 dollars. On 36 sailings the taxes cost more than the cruise, and 34 of those go from California to Mexico. Most of the cheapest nights are California to Mexico trips or Atlantic crossings, and a crossing only goes one way, so budget for the flight home.

Short cruises are not the cheap way to go: a three night cruise typically costs 184 dollars a night, a five night cruise 122. The date matters even more. Mariner of the Seas from New Orleans costs 1,465 dollars leaving the day after Christmas and 517 dollars two weeks later. Across 42 holiday sailings, Christmas cost more every time, usually about 70 percent more. Waiting for a last minute deal rarely pays: six in ten sailings got more expensive as they got close, and eight in ten balconies. Two cheap weeks on Voyager line up back to back: 15 nights for 548 dollars, about 37 dollars a night.
