What this video covers

Shareholders who own 100 Royal Caribbean shares get onboard credit on every sailing, so a back-to-back should pay it twice. This video checks that against 2,096 real back-to-backs. The credit, as Royal Caribbean publishes it, is 50 dollars for five nights or fewer, 100 dollars for six to thirteen nights, 250 dollars for fourteen nights or more, and 1,000 dollars for a world cruise. It is one credit per stateroom, and comped sailings do not qualify, so a cruise whose fare is fully covered by a casino offer earns nothing.

Two seven night legs earn 100 dollars each, 200 dollars in all, but one fourteen night cruise earns 250. So splitting two weeks costs you 50 dollars of credit. Across all 2,096 trips, splitting paid the same as one longer cruise 51 percent of the time, less 38 percent of the time, and more only 10 percent of the time. You win only when your legs reach a higher step than the single cruise would, such as six nights plus seven. The video is clear that this is not investment advice: on a typical two week trip the credit is about five percent of the fare. If you already own the shares, claim it on every leg.
